Healthy Ways To Celebrate Diwali

The festive season of lights is upon us. Diwali is the most popular and celebrated festival in India, and Indians all over the world celebrate this day by lighting the diyas, eating sweets, and with fireworks. People generally loosen up a little when it comes to eating during Diwali, as we are all surrounded by delicious sweets and snacks. But as the world is still recovering from the aftermaths of the Covid-19 pandemic, we should be very cautious and considerate this Diwali so that we can celebrate it with utmost joy, while keeping ourselves and our loved ones around us safe and sound. Here are some healthy ways in which we can all enjoy the festival of Diwali:

• Say ‘NO’ to fireworks – Due to excessive use of firecrackers on Diwali, air pollution rises to dangerous levels. Because of the noise and pollution created by fireworks, infants, elderly people, and pets get deeply affected. As firecrackers leave the air hazy and the surroundings full of noise, and we wake up to the streets littered with waste the next morning. Although, some may argue that Diwali without crackers is not fun, for a cleaner future should give them up or use eco-friendly crackers.

• Go Easy on the Sugar, Eat Healthily – We all go crazy surrounded by a variety of sweets around us during Diwali. The sugar rush is at its peak during the festivities. By opting for healthier foods and beverages, we not only make ourselves fit and fine during the festival but also contribute to reducing the wastage from sweet shops and restaurants.

• Maintain Social Distancing – Diwali is a festival to meet and greet our friends and family. But due to the pandemic, it would not be such a bad idea to avoid meeting people and celebrate with just your family members. After all, Diwali is a festival to be celebrated with family. This year will be a different face of the festival, but it is the right thing to do.

• A Gift to Remember – We all love getting gifts and giving gifts to our close ones during the time of Diwali. Our shopping spree before the festival majorly revolves around that. But this Diwali, try to opt for something different. Instead of buying gifts from the outside and using plastic sheets to wrap it up in, you can make something or recycle something creative and innovate and gift your loved ones as a token of love. Not only will it be more special and eco-friendly, but the receiver will be touched to have gotten a handmade gift.

By considering the above points, you can make sure to have a safe and prosperous festive celebration. Body Revival wishes you and your family a very Happy Diwali. Stay home, stay safe.
