As National Men’s Health Week is going on, we need to raise awareness about cancer
prevailing in men and its treatment among males. Lifestyle factors are the reason why men have
different types of cancer. Although, other risk factors that one cannot ignore are age and the
But the point here is to prevent the occurrence of cancer or detect them early and treat it at the
right time using the right therapies.
Before going ahead, let us look at the types of cancer that affect men.
● Prostate Cancer
One of the most common cancers in men is prostate, leading to around 29,000 deaths in
a year. According to the National Cancer Institute, age and family history are some
major factors causing prostate cancer.
The experts have suggested that certain changes in diet can result in lowering the risk of

● Lung Cancer

lung cancer is low but natural remedies along with modern medicines can give effective
results. Immunotherapy based on herbal treatments is also showing some positive signs
in curing lung cancer patients. Here are some ways the disease can be controlled:

● Colorectal Cancer

❖ Patients while fighting the disease can consume fresh fish as it contains omega-3
fatty acids and protein.
● Esophageal Cancer
It is rare cancer compared to other types but affects around 14,500 men every year. But
this cancer is highly preventable.
To prevent such types of cancer, it is important to treat people with reflux. Hence, a
proper diet is necessary which consists of soft food items and liquids. Experts suggest
reducing weight and staying at a healthy weight to reduce the risk of disease.
● Kidney Cancer
It is linked to excessive fat in the body and can be controlled with a proper diet.
According to a study, in the first and second stages of kidney cancer, Ayurveda plays a vital
role. It focuses on the imbalance between Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. One can develop a
healthy digestive system with herbal based products.
Apart from the above, men should avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol. This is
because it increases the chances of other types of cancer too like bladder cancer, skin cancer, and such.
